Cairo, July 2 (IANS/WAM) More than 50 Emirati citizens have been evacuated from Egypt and the UAE embassy in Cairo is closely monitoring the situation, the UAE's ambassador has said.
The evacuation was being done under the directives of UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said UAE envoy and Permanent Representative to the Arab League Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhaheri.
Al Dhaheri said three teams from the embassy were assigned to oversee operations by national carriers, including Etihad Airways, Emirates Airlines, Air Arabia, flydubai and Ras Al Khaimah Air, to transport Emirati citizens who want to leave Egypt.
He said 57 citizens have left for the UAE since Saturday and others have been checked into a Cairo hotel, pending their travel to their home country.
