Communist Party of India Marxist (CPI-M) leader Brinda Karat on Monday slammed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his stand on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
The CPI-M politbureau member also said that a sweeping mandate does not mean that the Delhi Chief Minister can act on his whims and fancies.
"Arvind Kejriwal keeps taking on the Centre on various issues, and we support some of his issues like complete statehood for Delhi. We also raised this issue in Parliament," Karat said at a protest gathering here.
"If people of Delhi have given a sweeping mandate to him, it does not mean that he can turn back on his promises, and would not provide power and water or harm workers' rights," she said.
She said that it is surprising and disappointing how Kejriwal's "otherwise active Twitter account is silent on an important issue like FDI".
