A youth in Jammu and Kashmir who had joined militant ranks in October was arrested by the police in Srinagar on Sunday.
Family sources said Ahtisham Bilal was arrested by police from his home in Khanyar area of Srinagar.
Later, the police said the youth had been reunited with his family after he agreed to give up militancy due to persuasion by the family and police.The youth had abandoned his education in Sharda University in Noida after a scuffle between two groups of students on the campus.
He later appeared in a video that went viral purportedly asserting he had joined militant ranks.
The youth had stated in his video that he was joining ISJK which is reportedly the Kashmir wing of the Islamic State.
