Former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid midfielder Ze Roberto has signed a contract extension that will see him playing at Palmeiras beyond his 42nd birthday.
The 41-year-old will remain with the Sao Paulo-based outfit until at least December 2016, Xinhua quoted the club as saying in a statement on Monday.
"I am very happy to be able to keep playing for Palmeiras," Ze Roberto told the team's official website. "I hope that during this period we can achieve our goals of winning trophies and make our fans happy."
Having joined Palmeiras from Gremio on a one-year deal in January, Ze Roberto has quickly endeared himself to Alviverde fans, making 42 appearances and scoring six goals.
Apart from a decorated career in Europe, Ze Roberto has been capped 84 times for Brazil and was part of the Selecao's 1998 and 2006 World Cup squads.
