Russian football club Zenit St. Petersburg are preparing an offer to sign Gremio's on-loan forward Eduardo Vargas.
The 23-year-old Chile international had been tipped to return to Italian Serie A club Napoli at the end of the season after a successful year with the Brazilian side, reports Xinhua.
But Zenit are understood to be willing to meet Napoli's 15 million-euro asking price during the next transfer window in January.
Vargas has netted three times in seven Campeonato Brasiliero matches this season and also scored in Chile's 2-2 draw with Spain during the week.
The former Universidad de Chile star joined Napoli in December 2011 but managed just 28 first-team appearances before being loaned to Gremio in January.
