The government might have provided brand new smartphones to all its information officers, but it will not foot the bills of those who are below the rank of director.

While the move to arm all information officers with smartphones has been appreciated as one that will make dissemination of information smooth and timely, there is some heartburn among a section of officials over the denial of reimbursements.

An officer wondered, "It will definitely make our work easier, but why should we pay for government work from our own pockets?"
