Don't let Kashmir bleed: Letter to BS on Pakistan's ceasefire violations

One should not be surprised if govt chooses the timing for next aggressive military response with an eye on a possible electoral gain

The government seems totally clueless about how to deal with the ceasefire violations resorted to by the Pakistan army killing and injuring virtually on a daily basis not only our security personnel but civilians too. Ministers’ claims of giving befitting response to such unprovoked attacks by the Pakistan army has become too routine to inspire confidence in the government’s ability to reign in the rogue Pak army.

Politically, the government exploited what it claimed to be the “surgical strike” of September 2016 portraying a commando operation as a masculine response to the Pakistani army’s killings in Uri. It asserted that carrying out such operation on PoK soil was unprecedented--a claim debunked by a former army chief. One should not be surprised if the government chooses the timing for the next aggressive military response with an eye on a possible electoral gain. Till then, regrettably, Kashmir would continue to bleed.
