In India, usually, the humour on display is a little more caustic. Congressmen, in particular, lose no opportunity to badmouth civil society leaders Kisan Baburao Hazare and Ramdev; sometimes as examples to escape tricky situations. A senior Congress spokesperson, who holds considerable clout in the party and is in the habit of addressing media persons only in Hindi, was asked to repeat his statement in English for the benefit of south Indian television channels; unwilling to do so, he shot back: “First get Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare to address you in English, then come to me.” Naturally, the journalist was left without a reply.
