Rahul's edited works

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's first television interview was widely criticised. Unfazed, the Congress has decided to print excerpts of the interview in the party mouthpiece Congress Sandesh. A look at the printed interview, however, reveals that it has carefully glossed over uncomfortable details. For instance, some questions have been retained on the 1984 Sikh riots with Rahul Gandhi explaining why his perception of the 1984 riots was different from his view on the 2002 riots in Gujarat. But the Sandesh excerpts blank out the next logical question by the interviewer that portrays Congressmen in poor light and had Gandhi squirming. The question was: "How is it possible that Sajjan Kumar was named in FIRs on the grounds of inciting violence in outer Delhi leading to the murder of Sikhs. The status of the case is known. How is Jagdish Tytler accused of inciting the mob in Pulbangash leading to murder and rioting in the area. How is the late H K L Bhagat accused of inciting violence... How did these Congress leaders do what they did allegedly, if the government was so strongly and proactively acting against the riots?" Perhaps it is the Congress Vice-President's feeble response - "There is a process. See, there is a legal process. And that process is on. Okay" - that prompted the editors to keep this section out of the printed excerpts in the Congress magazine.
