Is the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) regretting its decision to form an unofficial alliance with the Congress in West Bengal before the April-May Assembly polls? After the electoral setback for the two parties, some voices within the CPI-M suggested such an alliance was "not in consonance" with the party's "political tactical line".
Reacting to this notion, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said: "Everybody can be wise with hindsight. We, too, can make comments, but what is the point? We should be graceful both in victory and defeat." The CPI-M was relegated to the third position behind the Congress in the Assembly polls. The Congress got 44 seats, up from 42 in 2011.
