Karti is being targeted because he is my son: Chidambaram
P Chidambaram said on Sunday that Karti Chidambaram was being targeted only because the latter was his son. The former finance minister said "the real target is me" and rejected as "malicious and totally false" allegations that Karti had undisclosed assets abroad. Chidambaram said if the government was of the view that Karti had alleged undisclosed assets, he would ask it to make a list and his son would voluntarily execute any document necessary to transfer such assets to the government for Re 1.
A media report had alleged Karti had built an empire by making investments in real estate and engaging in other businesses in 14 countries and that this had come to light through documents recovered during raids by the Enforcement Directorate and the investigation wing of the income-tax department in the Aircel-Maxis scam.
