If AAP had any problem, it should have gone to EC: Kiran Bedi

Former IPS officer turned social activist Kiran Bedi on Thursday criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over their protest outside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters, and said that if the AAP had any grievance, then they should have gone to the Election Commission.

"If they had to protest against the BJP, then they should have gone to the Jantar Mantar. Or you should have gone to the EC. But why did you go to a party's head office. Then you are screaming that they threw stones at us," said Bedi.

"You are not going to somebody office in huge numbers just to praise them. There will be some provocation," she added.

She asserted that when the Model Code of Conduct comes into effect, then the police do not take any order from any politician or any minister as it directly comes under the EC.

"It is a strange thing that a SMS was circulated to everybody who had any contact with the AAP and its members. Even I got one yesterday," she noted.

Earlier today, AAP leader Ashutosh was taken into custody by the Delhi Police for questioning in connection to his role in clashes outside the BJP headquarters.

AAP workers on Wednesday fought pitched battles with BJP activists outside the saffron party headquarters here hours after AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was detained briefly in Gujarat.

The Gujarat Police stated that Kejriwal had not taken permission from them to hold a road show.
