Popular Malayalam actor Suresh Gopinathan, commonly known as Suresh Gopi, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday.
Earlier in April, Gopi sworn in as a Member of Parliament (MP) to the Rajya Sabha in the category of eminent citizens according to the provisions of Article 80 of the Indian Constitution.
He opted for Thiruvananthapuram as the nodal district of operation as member of Parliament.
He is also a philanthropist, social worker, and a strong advocate of environmental protection.
He also won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his movie Kaliyattam in 1997.
