PM may take up troops intrusion during China visit

Both nations are committed to maintain peace and tranquility, say sources

India may take up the issue of PLA troops intrusion when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visits China later this month.

While maintaining that the agenda for the upcoming meeting was yet to be finalised, official sources said that the issue of "peace and tranquility" would certainly find a place when leaders of the two countries meet.

Asked whether the issue of Chinese intrusion into Indian territory would be discussed during Singh's visit to China later this month, they said, "the prime minister would certainly discuss issues that are important for maintaining peace and tranquility with China".

Singh, who reached here today on a four-day visit to Brunei and Indonesia, is scheduled to visit Russia and China later this month.

"Both sides are committed to maintaining peace and tranquility and these issues would be discussed," sources said.

On the issue of dam and projects being constructed near the border, the sources said that India is working on its projects.

"If you look at the biggest issues, they are related to boundary, but they would not be resolved in a hurry. We are in middle of some discussions and these talks would continue. It will by only towards the end that there would be some talks on boundary settlement.

"But despite all the negative perceptions, we continue to work towards and are committed to peace.
