According to sources in the chief minister's secretariat, Khalque, submitted his resignation papers to the chief minister which was accepted.
No reason was cited for the resignation.
"The chief minister has accepted his resignation, but no reason has been cited," a spokesman in the chief minister's office said.
But it is believed that Khalque put in his papers ahead of the panchayat elections scheduled in January next year in which he will be a prospective candidate.
