A private college in Indore has created a Guinness World Record in the 'largest backwards walk' category.
A total of 1,107 participants associated with the Prestige Institute of Management and Research (PIMR) took part in the backwards walk that was held on March 2, which was recognised by the Guinness World Record, the institute's Media In-charge Raju John told PTI here today.
A certificate to this effect has been received by the institute from the Guinness World Record, he said.
"Without looking back, the participants walked backwards for nearly a kilometre in Vijay Nagar area here to break the record earlier held by a Chinese company in this category," he said.
According to John, besides the PIMR students, some NCC cadets and a few commoners were a part of the walk that was aimed at promoting innovative ideas.
The record for the largest backwards walk was set in China's Shanghai town on June 10, 2012 when 1,039 people had walked backwards. The record was registered in the name of Infinitus (China) Company Limited, which had organised the event, Raju added.
