At least 14 people, including three children, were killed and many others injured when a remote-controlled blast today targeted a convoy of security forces in Peshawar city in northwest Pakistan.
The blast, believed to be an IED explosion, targeted the convoy of security forces on their way to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's capital Peshawar from Kohat district.
Officials said 40-kg explosive was used in the blast that also destroyed 10 vehicles and several shops.
Javed Marwat, Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar, said, "14 people killed in the remote control blast."
The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital and condition of some of them is stated to be critical, hospital authorities said.
The area where blast occurred is congested with people who come for shopping from the nearby villages.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have strongly condemned the blast.
