15 boats gutted in fire

Fifteen boats, used for boating at the lake near the Aindharuvi (five falls) at Courtallam, were destroyed in a fire today.
Officials said the boats, operated by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Department's local unit, had been stacked near the lake, being off season.
The reason for the fire was not known immediately.
Police said they were investigating the cause of the fire as the boats were worth more than Rs 2 crore.
