15-year-old boy drowns in Tura Resort

A family holiday turned tragic after a 15 year old boy from Assam drowned today at the resort in West Garo Hills district they were staying in.
The 15-year-old boy identified as Ishan Swargiyari was along with four more of his relatives had gone to the popular resort here for a holiday when the incident occurred.
According to police sources, despite not knowing how to swim the 15 year old boy and his elder brother went into the pool. While it is still unclear as to what happened both boys were struggling to get out of the deep end of the pool. While the elder brother managed to save himself, Ishan drowned in the water of the pool.

The drowning boy was immediately rushed to the Tura Civil Hospital where he was declared brought dead. A post mortem was later performed.
"We have launched an investigation into the matter. As per the preliminary report, life jackets and a rescuer were present at the scene. Both brothers did not know swimming as per the initial reports," said West Garo Hills, Superintendent of Police MGR Kumar.
