16 injured in group clash

Atleast 16 people were
injured in a group clash at Geddakancharam village here, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday in G Sigadam Mandal when a group supporting Ruppa Anuradha, the present sarpanch of the village and those favouring the former sarpanch Nakka Prasad entered into heated arguments over conducting a village Goddess festival from January 16, they said.
The altercation took a violent turn when the groups attacked each other using sticks 16 people injured.
The injured were shifted to Government Hospital at Rajam and police have registered cases against the two groups.
