Two persons on the run after looting Rs 53 lakh in Amravati district of Maharashtra were arrested from here by Thane Crime Branch, an official said on Tuesday.
Shiva Singh Virsingh Sikalkar (30) and Muktasingh Jogansingh Tak (35) had looted Rs 20 lakh under Paratwada police station limits and then Rs 33 lakh from Chandurbazar, both in Amravati, recently, said an official.
"On a tip-off they may be hiding in Thane, a joint team of local and Amravati police raided Ambivali and Ambernath on Sunday and Monday and arrested the two," he said.
The official said 172 grams of gold, 800 grams of silver, worth around Rs 6.5 lakh, and Rs 59,000 cash have been recovered from the duo.
