The truck on its way to Punjab from Srinagar was asked to stop at Ramban by the police. But, the driver tried to speed past the check point, a police official said.
The officer added that however, after a brief chase police managed to intercept the vehicle.
During the inspection of the truck, around 65 bags containing 40 kilogrammes of poppy husk was recovered, the police officer said.
While the driver and his assistant managed to escape, the the other two persons in the truck, identified as Manjeet (33) and Amarjot (18), both residents of Punjab's Ludhiana, were arrested on the spot, the police officer said.
