Tanmay Patra and Mriganka Ganguly were returning from a puja when they were attacked with sticks and swords, according to an FIR lodged in this connection.
The two were admitted to Uluberia hospital.
Mriganka told the media at the hospital that the three accused used to drink and disturb people of the locality.
As he had protested against this, he and his friend Mriganka were assaulted by the three, Mriganka said.
The police, however, said this claim was not mentioned in the FIR.
A case has been registered under various IPC Sections including 326 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons).
