Two Nepalese women, allegedly being trafficked to Kenya, were today rescued by SSB troops along the Indo-Nepal border in West Bengal.
Officials said the incident was reported from Ranidanga in Darjeeling district of the state when a Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) patrol was out at the Panitanki border post and they spotted suspicious movements of the women and a man accompanying them.
"Two women from Nepal aged 22 and 24 years respectively and a man from Lalitpur district of the neighbouring country were apprehended. It is suspected that the man was allegedly trying to traffick these girls to Nairobi in Kenya via Delhi to work in a dance bar," they said.
All three have been handed over to local police for further investigation, they said.
The operation was carried out by the 41st battalion of SSB deployed in the area to guard the open Indo-Nepal border.
