The security forces have launched operation Khyber-1 and 2 in the agency to flush out militants, including that of banned militant group Lashkar-e-Islam, in the lawless region.
Khyber-1 was launched on information about the presence of militants in parts of Sipah and Akkakhel areas of Khyber Agency.
Another military operation, named Zarb-i-Azb, was launched by military in mid-June in North Waziristan against Taliban and other militants. The offesive is still progressing.
More than 1,100 militants and 100 soldiers have been killed since the start of the North Waziristan offensive, and more than 100 militants have surrendered, according to the army.
Since the Taliban began their violent campaign in 2007, more than 6,800 people have been estimated to be killed in their attacks around Pakistan.
