3 arrested in connection with highway robberies in UP

Three persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in highway robberies in Sahibabad area here, police said today.
During a special checking, Faheem, Samik and Intzar, all residents of Meerut district, were arrested last evening from Loni road near Hindon Air force station, Station House Officer of Sahibabad police station Hari Dayal Singh Yadav said.
The accused used to rob people on the pretext of dropping them at their destinations in their autorickshaw, he said.
During interrogation, the trio confessed that they robbed several passengers on Delhi-Meerut, Sahibabad and Gurgaon Highways, he said.
One country-made pistol, knife, iron rod and one autorickshaw were recovered from their possession, he said.

The trio has been sent to jail, the SHO added.
