3 held with illegal firearms

Three persons were today arrested and illegal firearms and live cartridges were seized from them near Indra nagar colony in the city, police said.
Acting on a tip off, police checked the car in which the accused -- Rinku Sharma, Sonu and Govind -- were travelling.
Two country-made pistols, one country-made revolver and seven cartridges were seized from their possession, DCP East Amandeep Singh said. Later, their leader and a history-sheeter Harish Sindhi was also arrested.
"Sonu and Govind had thrashed Chop Singh at the behest of Sindhi sometime back. They now feared that Vijaypal, at the behest of Chop Singh, may attack them so they planned to kill him on confrontation," he said.

The DCP said Sindhi had bought a car for the arrested accused and helped them in obtaining the illegal arms.
"With the arrest of the miscreants, a crime was averted," he said, adding that the accused were being interrogated.
