A 35-year-old Gurgaon Police head constable today allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling in his quarter at Civil Lines here, police said.
Malik Ram, a resident of Jhajjar in Haryana and posted in the City police station, was found hanging by his colleagues at around 1.30 PM at a staff quarter no 703 when they peeped into his room from a window, they said, adding they broke open the door and took him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
"Ram was in depression from last couple of days over some family issues and his health problem," Assistant Commissioner of Police and PRO Gurgaon Police Mahendra Verma told PTI.
The body has been sent for postmortem to ascertain whether it is a case of homicide or suicide, he said.
No suicide note was recovered from the spot, he added.
