375 cooperative societies functional in Jammu: Official

Out of 749 registered cooperative societies in Jammu division only 375 were functional in the region, a senior official said here today.
Secretary to Government, Cooperative Department, R K Koul said, "Out of 749 cooperative societies registered in Jammu division under the provisions of Cooperative Societies Act, 1989, only 375 cooperative societies are functional."
He said the annual audits of 369 cooperative societies were conducted upto December last year and the elections of 49 societies were also held.
"Similarly, 63 arbitration cases have been disposed off and 251 cooperative societies were inspected in this period. 50 awareness camps were organised and presently the cooperative societies have a membership of 2,52,530," he said.
