The mishap occurred at around 10 AM on Vadgaon Dhayari bridge located on the city outskirts, an officer at Sinhgad Road police station said.
The driver of the container apparently lost control over the wheels, as a result of which it turned turtle and crushed 3-4 vehicles plying on the road.
In the accident, four persons were killed, he said.
The two injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital, he said.
The driver of the container fled from the spot, he said adding that a probe was on into the accident.
