A 30-year-old man was arrested today for possessing 40 kg of ganja, reportedly smuggled from Andhra Pradesh and meant to be sold to students in the city, police said.
Based on a tip off, a special team rushed to Ramanathapuram here and found the accused standing with a gunny bag, which contained 40 kg of ganja, they said.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the man hailing from Sivaganga district had brought the contraband from Andhra Pradesh, they said.
One kg of Ganja is sold for Rs 10,000 to 15,000 and supplied all over the city and rural areas, police said adding a search was on for two of his accomplices.
