All the three major political parties -- BJP, Aam Aadmi Party and Congress-- have fielded their candidates on all eight seats.
With these elections, BJP, Congress and AAP will gauge the public mood and the results will help them prepare their strategy in the upcoming Assembly elections.
With AAP contesting elections of Board for the first time, it has been a three-corned contest this time.
"In the elections of all eight seats of Delhi Cantonment Board, 46.27 per cent voting was held today. EVMs were used in these elections for the first time," Board's spokesperson Tanu Sharma said.
Voting was held at 100 polling booths and 1,460 security personnel were deployed, she said.
"Counting of votes will begin at 10 AM tomorrow at Delhi Cantonment Board's office," Sharma said.
BJP, which had six out of eight elected members in the last Board, is confident to win all eight seats. Congress had won only two seats in the last Board polls.
The last election of Delhi Cantonment Board was held in May, 2008. The tenure of councillors is five years.
However, the tenure of the Board's councillors, which was supposed to be ended in 2013, was extended for one year due to President Rule.
