On a tip off that RS was being transported, PEW sleuths carried out vehicle check near Pollachi late last night, during which a car went without stopping, pew sources said today.
The officials chased the car and stopped at a few kms and nabbed the driver, near Sangampalayam.
As the sleuths nabbed the driver, Deepu, others in the car managed to escape in the cover of darkness.
On search, they found 490 litres of RS in 14 cans each containing 35 litres, they said adding that the 28-year old driver, hailing from Idukki district in Kerala, said to have confessed that spirit was being taken to Kerala.
