5 jail officials get 10 yrs for abetting warden's suicide

District Jail Superintendent and four other officials were today sentenced to ten years of imprisonment by a local court for abetting suicide of jail warden in 2012.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Anil Kumar also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on the convicts -- Jail superintendent Dharamaveer Singh, head wardens Satpal Singh and Sandeep Puniya, and wardens Samsher and Rohtash Mallik.
The son of the victim had charged all the five officials with abetting his father's suicide.
He alleged that Dharamaveer Singh had demanded Rs 3 lakh from his father for his under construction building and threatened to transfer him.

Troubled by superintendent's demand, victim Ramchandra committed suicide, his son said.
