5 killed, 29 injured in mishaps

Five persons including two women were killed and 29 others injured in separate road mishaps in Dumka district today, a senior police office said.
Two women pilgrims were killed and 28 others sustained injuries when the vehicle they travelling on overturned near Narganjoo village under Taljhari police station on Dumka-Deoghar road, said Deputy Superintendent of Police, A K Srivastav said.
All the injured were rushed to Jermundi Health Centre, where they were undergoing treatment, he said adding that all the pilgrims, who hailed from Madhubani district of adjoining Bihar, were on their way to visit Trikuti hill after offering their obeisance at Basukinath Temple in Dumka.
In another incident, two teenagers were killed and another injured when the motorcycle they were travelling on collided head on with a truck on Dumka-Rampurhat road under Dumka muffasil police station, he said.
Seventeen-year-old Raja Hari, who was driving the bike, dieed on the spot while 16-year-old Manoj Hembram succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital, Srivastav said adding that one pillion rider Vikram Hari (25) was admitted in Dumka Hospital.
A 40-year-old man identified as Shankar Kabri was crushed to death under the wheels of a bamboo-laden truck near Karbindha on Dumka-Ramgarh road, he added.
