Five men of Bihar origin died of suspected suffocation when they entered a waste oil storage tank of a private factory for cleaning it on outskirts of the city today.
The victims, all in their 30s, had entered the huge tank of Sampath Refinery Private Limited at Tubinakere industrial area for cleaning it this morning and "might have died of suffocation," Additional Superintendent of Police Puttamadappa told PTI.
He said the incident came to light around noon, adding, "....The tank was big, so we had to cut the tank to extricate the bodies."
Officials said the unit was said to have been used for refining waste engine oil.
