A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in West Delhi's Ranhola area, police said today.
According to police, the accused, identified as 20-year- old Hemraj, alias Babu, has been arrested for the assault last evening after a medical test on the victim confirmed rape.
"We received a PCR call about the incident at around 11:30 P.M. (last night). Hemraj had taken the girl to a secluded spot on the pretext of offering her eatables and then violated her. He fled the scene after the act," police said.
The girl, whom the accused left behind in an unconscious state, was later noticed by passers-by who informed her family. She was then taken to hospital, police said.
Hemraj was arrested this morning from the Ranhola area itself, police added.
