Six Bengali films with mixed contents, raging from a historical courtroom drama to a crime thriller, are all set to hit the big screens this Friday to entertain people during the Durga Puja festival.
The six films - 'Ek Je Chhilo Raja' by Srijit Mukherjee, 'Byomkesh Gwotro' by Arindam Sil, 'Kishore Kumar Junior' by Kaushik Ganguly, 'Hoichoi Unlimited' by Aniket Chatterjee, 'Manojder Adbhut Bari' by Anindyo Chatterjee and 'Villain' by Baba Yadav are slated to be released on October 12, four days before 'Mahasaptami' on October 16.
The films have an ecletic mix of contents, including the life of a junior singer, who solely renders the popular tracks of an iconic singer, a children's adventure, a romantic comedy and a masala action flick, industry sources said.
Actor Abir Chatterjee, who plays the role of a sleuth in 'Byomkesh Gwotro' and of a prince in children's adventure drama 'Manojder Adbhut Bari', said he was confident that both the films will do well as the Bengali audience love literary contents.
"And a Byomkesh film by Arindam Sil has never been a let down for the audience. Hence 'Byomkesh Gwotro' will do well and I am sure that 'Manojder Adbhut Bari' will also be backed by the audience.
"In fact, I wish every film to do well which will help the entire industry and retain the audience," Chatterjee said.
Bengali superstar Dev, who is the lead actor in 'Hoichoi Unlimited' and its producer, said, "Everyone in this industry wants all the films to do well. I am also a part of the industry. I will ask every member of the audience to keep 'Hoichoi Unlimited' on top of the list on the first day of show and then mark the other days to watch the rest."
While wishing all the films a big success, superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee, who is essaying the lead role in 'Kishore Kumar Junior', said, "My audience is excited because they expect a film from me during the Durga Puja. People now want to know my reaction regarding five or six puja releases on a single date. They forget that there was a time when I used to have three or four releases during Durga Puja."
