84 lakh more people registered against national target in FSA

Ruling BJP government today accused the former Congress government of registering over 84 lakh people or families under the Food Security Act against the national target.
"In many districts including Baran, Dausa, Dungarpur, Dholpur, Pratapgarh, Jhalawar and Sawaimadhopur, the previous Congress government had registered people more than the population of the respective district under Food Security Act (FSA).
"Altogether 84.43 lakh additional units (people/families) were registered as beneficiaries of the Public Distribution System (PDS) under FSA and to adjust every one, the food grains and other items were being given appropriately," State Food and Civil Supply Minister Hemsingh Bhadana said while replying to a question of BJP MLA Rao Rajendra Singh in the Assembly.

Former Congress government did this to take political advantage in a rush up to Assembly elections and to benefit the party workers, Bhadana alleged, which was strongly opposed by Congress MLAs.
He further said a Task Force Committee was set up last month to probe the process of enlistment of beneficiaries under FSA, and the Committee would meet on August 4 in which district collectors and district supply officers would be asked to hold camps at the panchayat levels to verify the antecedents of the beneficiaries individually.
"Against the target of Government of India to include 44.66 crore units under FSA, 53.10 crore units were selected," he said, adding to meet this target, the state would require Rs 750 crore annually.

When Bhadana attacked former Congress government, there was an uproar for about ten minutes in the House in which the ruling and opposition members traded charges against each other.

Amid chaos, war of words also broke out between senior Congress MLA Pradhyuman Singh and Speaker Kailash Meghawal, which were immediately expunged.
Replying to a question, State Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Arun Chaturvedi informed the House that from August 16 payment to pensioners would be made through internet banking to avoid delay through postal money order service. The state government would announce a massive "Bhamashah Scheme" on that day, he added.

On another question of BJP MLA Surendra Pal Singh, State Education Minister K C Saraf told the House that the process of opening of new colleges announced by the previous Congress government would be probed and reviewed.
Congress government had announced opening of 42 new degree colleges, but only 27 were opened, he added.
On BJP MLA Bhibha Bahi's question, Cooperative Minister Ajay Singh Kilak said new Gram Seva Sahakari Samiti would be constituted based on the parameters of Gram Panchayats.
