India's Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae said this at a talk programme on 'The Indian Constitution' organised here to commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of B R Ambedkar.
During the symposium, a host of speakers shed light on the important role played by Ambedkar in framing the constitution 67 years ago.
"Ambedkar is not only the constitution maker of India, he is also the source of great inspiration for the people all over the world for his ideas of inclusion and equality among people," said India's Ambassador to Nepal, Ranjit Rae.
Seeking to end the political crisis over the new statute, Nepal government is set to table a Constitution amendment proposal in parliament, with Prime Minister Prachanda planning to split a province to meet the demands of agitating parties, including Madhesis.
Re-demarcation of the provincial boundary and citizenship issue are the two major demands put forth by the agitating Madhesi parties.
The minority, mostly of Indian-origin, has led months- long violent protest seeking better representation in the Parliament and the federal structure of the Constitution that divides their ancestral homeland.
Law and Justice Minister Ajay Shankar Nayak, said "Ambedkar is the symbol of democracy, justice, equality and liberty."
The Constitution crafted by Ambedkar is the key to national integrity of India, he said, adding "He is not only an icon of democracy, rule of law and social justice but also remain inspiration to all across the world."
The Constitution should be flexible and accommodative to new and changing aspirations of the people, said former justice of Supreme Court Girirsh Chandra Lal.
