Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today registered a police complaint against three persons here for allegedly misleading people through advertisements in the name of the party.
The three accused had published advertisements in the name of AAP asking people to join the party. They were booked for unauthorised publicity, misleading public and fraud.
AAP district convener Nitin Barot registered a complaint with Navrangpura police against Manish Brahmbhatt, Ghanshyam Patel and Jayesh Jadhav in this regard.
An advertisement had appeared in a local newspaper featuring photograph of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, asking people to join the party and seeking donations from them.
The advertisement also asked people to call on a "false" toll-free number, Barot said.
Brahmbhatt, Patel and Jadhav are neither party members nor are related to the party in any manner, he added.
Barot alleged that since other political parties are feeling the heat of AAP's rise, they are resorting to such tactics.
