Mining supervisors Omprakash and Shivcharan, head constables Rajkumar, Sanjeev Kumar, constable Devender Kumar, and driver Balveer were carrying out checking at Jasana-Alipur Mod, a police spokesperson said.
While the team was carrying out the checking, it saw a tractor loaded with Yammuna sand coming from Alipur. On seeing the officials, the driver of the tractor left the vehicle and fled.
The team seized the tractor and was bringing it to the police station when around eight to ten people in a car attacked the officials and later fled with the truck, he said.
Two of the car-borne men who attacked the police team have been identified as Jaiprakash and Kannu, the spokesman said, adding that they were into illegal sand mining.
These men have booked under various sections of IPC and investigations have started in the case.
