AAP MLA Sarita Singh who was booked for allegedly misbehaving with a cop, today approached the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) demanding registration of an FIR against the police official, who she claimed had first hit her car with his baton and used offensive language against her.
Rohtash Nagar MLA Singh who has given a complaint to Police has alleged that it was the officer who abused her first, leading to the entire episode, and the police were targeting her because she belonged to a particular party which has always been "targeted" by Delhi Police.
"Singh wants an FIR to be filed over her complaint in the incident. The DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal will write to the Police Commissioner seeking registration of an FIR over her complaint," said a DCW official.
A case was filed against Singh on Sunday for allegedly misbehaving with an assistant sub-inspector, deployed at a marriage function in Bhajanpura area where Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was to arrive, after her vehicle hit the cop's motorbike while being reversed at the parking spot there.
An FIR has been registered under Sections 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 279 (rash driving) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC, said a police official.
However, the legislator denied all charges and maintained that the police "targeted" her only because she was from Aam Aadmi Party.
