Accused brought from Tihar escapes

The 31-year-old accused, Sanjay Eknath of Maharashtra was brought to Kochi for evidence collection and was staying with five other police officials from Delhi at the Armed Reserve camp when he managed to escape on Monday night.

Eknath was arrested by Delhi Police in connection with a case of theft of property in Delhi few months ago. During investigation of the case, it was found that he was involved in a case related to robbery and murder of a person at Thodupuzha in Idukki district in 2005.

Police here said they had not been informed about the accused by the escorting officials.

A hunt has been launched for Eknath.
