Taiwanese firm Asus, which launched devices priced between Rs 82,490 and about Rs 3.26 lakh, said it expects to sell about 36,000 units this year in the gaming category, which sees sales of about 84,000 units annually.
"We are looking at about 40 per cent market share. These devices that we are bringing to India are aimed at gaming enthusiasts that demand high performance and the best graphics experience," Asus India country Manager Peter Chang told PTI.
"The gaming market in India is still very nascent. Its about 2-3 per cent of the total PCs shipped. But it is growing at a strong pace and we expect the trend to continue," Acer India Senior Director (Consumer Business) Chandrahas Panigrahi said.
According to analysts, the market is small in size but premium pricing makes it a lucrative category to be present in.
