Drug Inspector Deepak Sharma said that several chemist shops from Nai Basti area complained that the agency has supplied them 'Railway supply, not for sale' cough syrup surreptitiously by pasting stickers on the marking.
Upon this information, a team from drugs department raided the premises of the agency at Kavi Nagar Industrial area and took stock registers in their possession.
Inward stock was not found in their godown.
"After investigation, if the agency is found guilty of diverting the 'not for sale medicines' into the market, then a case will be lodged under appropriate sections of Drugs and Cosmetics Act," Sharma added.
Rajdev Tyagi, President of the chemists and druggists association, said that the association had lodged a complaint with the Drugs Department regarding this matter. The medicines supplied by the agency to the chemist shops have not been sold.
