The incumbent Ramesh Chennithala would continue as KPCC president as the topmost organisational post had never been part of the revamp process.

According to Congress sources here, the posts of DCC presidents have been equally shared between the two broad factions in the state-known as 'A' and 'I,' with both groups taking seven each.

Senior leader M M Hassan, who had been the spokesman of the party, was named as one of the four vice presidents.

The 'jumbo list' of office-bearers has 21 general secretaries and 42 joint secretaries. Karakulam Krishna Pillai has been named as the Treasurer.

The process of re-organisation, which started about a year back, had seen Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Chennithala rushing to Delhi several times.

Chandy-Chennithala duo, who have been maintaining a fairly good working relationship over the last couple of years, had taken great pains to accommodate persons from different factions in the state unit.

After the list was announced in Delhi, Chennithala said here that the revamp was finalised after talks with all sections in the party. "I am sure the new team will be successful in strengthening the party and put up a brilliant performance," he said.

When his reaction was sought, Chandy said he need not comment on the list which had the stamp of approval of AICC.

While refraining from making any sweeping comment, former KPCC president and son of late leader K Karunakaran, Muraleedharan hinted that his supporters had not been sufficiently accommodated.
