The National Highway 37 was blocked by the protesters at Raha, Phulaguri and Kathiatoli. Hundreds of protesters were taken into preventive custody at Raha.
The bandh has been called by local units of All Assam Students Uniom (AASU), All Tiwa Students Union (ATSU) and Asom Jatiya Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) and Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti (MASS) from 5 AM today.
