Amazon brings new Kindle to India for Rs 5,999

Global eCommerce giant Amazon today unveiled its new eBook reader Kindle, priced at Rs 5999 in India.
The new device, which will start shipping from October 9, comes with a touch interface, 20 per cent faster processor, twice the storage with weeks of battery life, along with new features like Vocabulary builder, Kindle Freetime and Goodreads integration, Amazon said in a statement.
"Our new Kindle is small and light, with weeks of battery life, a 20 per cent faster processor, twice the storage, and a touch interface. It's never been a better time to be a reader," Amazon Kindle Vice President Peter Larsen said.
The device also comes with Facebook and Twitter integration that allows users to share book recommendations, highlighted sections, and meaningful quotes with friends.
Along with access to millions of books, Kindle offers over 600,000 books exclusively on the Kindle Store.

The company has been trying to ramp up its online presence.
Recently, Kaya also launched its own eCommerce portal shop.Kayaclinic.Com. It has also tied-up with other e-commerce firms like Flipkart, Jabong, Snapdeal, etc.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will shortly release a new Rs 5 coin to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya.
The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar while the reverse face of the coin shall bear the picture of "Madan Mohan Malaviya, said a PIB release.
These coins are legal tender as provided in The Coinage Act. The existing coins in this denomination shall also continue to be legal tender, it said.
