AP bifurcation needs consensus: Naidu

As the Centre gets ready to bring a bill on Telangana in the Winter Session of Parliament, Telugu Desam Party today said there was a need to evolve a broad-based consensus on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and hit out at Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Bifurcation of the state needs consensus from all stakeholders. It should not be carried just based on whims of the Congress high command, TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu said here.
There was no unanimity even among Congress leaders on the issue of carving out a separate State of Telangana. Everyone in the ruling party has his own stand on the issue, the former Chief Minister told reporters.

Naidu lashed out at Gandhi, saying she was dictating terms on the Telangana issue. Congress leaders are acting according to her feelings and in the process ignoring the sentiments of people from other regions of the state, he said.
The UPA Government has failed to follow constitutional obligations and also traditions when it came to dividing Andhra Pradesh, the Leader of Opposition maintained.
Justice should be done to all the regions, Naidu added.
